2 Tips to Entrepreneurs: Alignment and Purpose Abby El-Asmar of Ummahpreneur (in 2022) asked me for my advice to startup entrepreneurs on being better leaders, and inspiring a high performance team that works towards a common goal. My response: 1. Alignment Encourage ideas even conflicting, decide even with disagreements - everybody aligns first and “go do it” (don’t belabour decision making) and have the chance to course-correct later if necessary. 2. Purpose, purpose, purpose The leader expresses her/his convicted purpose in simple language and inspires team members to express theirs. Whatever the purpose held by each team member, be okay with it because all of us refine our purpose(s) and true calling over the years. ——— My tip on purpose focuses on the level of the individual. Is it important for leaders to think like entrepreneurs? I strongly believe it’s the silver bullet, after working as a CEO advisor with hundreds of CEOs and thousands of teams, this is a fact!!! Listen up….its like Intelligence having fun! Corporate leaders can certainly benefit from thinking like entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial thinking often involves innovation, risk-taking, and a focus on growth – qualities that can be valuable in a corporate setting. Here are some reasons why a more entrepreneurial mindset can be beneficial for corporate leaders: You’ll see this first… Innovation: Entrepreneurs are known for their innovative ideas and ability to disrupt industries. By embracing this mindset, corporate leaders can encourage a culture of innovation within their organizations, leading to new products, services, and processes that can drive growth and competitiveness. Almost edgy, but logical… Risk-taking: Entrepreneurs are generally more comfortable with taking calculated risks. They act as if they own it… Agility and Adaptability: Entrepreneurs are often quick to adapt to changing market conditions, pivoting their strategies as needed. Corporate leaders who adopt this approach can help their organizations remain agile and adaptable, better positioning them to respond to market shifts and capitalize on emerging opportunities. #jmablueprint Examples of Corporate Leaders with an Entrepreneurial Mindset
